Every Classic Car enthusiast is familiar with the history of the Ford Mustang. It began back in 1961, with a vision by Ford boss Lee Iococca and product planner Donald Frey of a performance car that would seat four people, have bucket seats and a floor shifter, not exceed 180 inches in length, weigh less than 2500 pounds, and sell for less than $2,500. This was in response to the invasion of the European sports cars, most notably the British models. The target market was the Baby Boomer generation, which were just entering the car market. The Mustang has stood the test of time as the most popular and iconic vehicles in the history of automobilia.

Of course, the Mustang launch was an overwhelming success. The first day of sales, 22,000 units were sold. 400,000 were sold in the first twelve months, and over a million were sold in the first two years. Now approaching the 50th anniversary year, production has approached or exceeded ten million units. The Mustang is the third oldest nameplate in Ford history, surpassed only by the F Series truck and the Falcon (Which is still produced in Australia).

The first day of scheduled production was March 9, 1964. Iococca and his marketing team devised an ingenious marketing campaign. The evening of April 16, a sixty second commercial was launched on all three major television networks, enticing the public to flock to the dealer showrooms on April 17, the first day of availability. In addition, the Mustang was simultaneously introduced at an exhibit at the New York World's Fair. As a bonus, Iococca secured duty as pace car for the Indianapolis 500 to the list of Mustang marketing venues. Iococca realized that the success of the Mustang depended on volume sales, and mass marketing translated into volume sales.

Since inception, five generations of Mustangs have been produced. As the end of the fourth generation loomed, Ford executives realized the Mustang would have to undergo a complete redesign to again corner the market. Two pre-production concept cars, a Redline Red GT convertible and a Tungsten Silver GT coupe, were presented by Ford at the 2003 North American International Auto Show.

At the following year's show, Ford introduced a redesigned Mustang previewed by the 2003 concept vehicle, code named S-197, destined for the 2005 model year. Developed under the direction of Chief Engineer Hau Thai-Tang and exterior styling designer Sid Ramnarace, the fifth generation drew inspiration from the original, first generation 1964-1970 Mustangs. The design has been dubbed Retro-Futurism. The original Mustang was back, in an upgraded and improved form, and sales skyrocketed. The rest is history.

There is now a group of collectors that covet the last generation models almost as much as the first. In primary demand are the extremely low mileage units with the "in the wrapper" appearance. The Mustang we are offering for sale is a prime example. Still appearing as it did the day it left the showroom floor. With 27.5 original miles on the odometer, this could be the lowest mile offering on the planet. This is the chance to own one of the finest examples of a 2005 Mustang available anywhere.

This classic was sold new at McNelly-Whaley Motor Co. Inc., in Sevierville, TN. As stated, this vehicle was trucked home from the dealership, then stored as a collectible. It has been kept fresh and exercised very lightly over the years. Looks exactly as it did the day it left the showroom in Sevierville.

Most muscle car enthusiasts agree that one of the most iconic models of the era was the Chevelle. Although relatively short lived, the Chevelle was one of GM's most successful nameplates. Built on the GM A-body platform with a somewhat reserved initial offering in 1964, developed into what most feel is the pinnacle of the muscle car boom, the 1970 Chevelle. The age of muscle cars peaked as the 1970s began -- and the 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS 454 helped to herald the ascent, as the king of the road. When GM lifted its displacement ban on midsize cars, Pontiac, Olds, and Buick responded with 455-cid mills with up to 370 bhp. Chevrolet's answer was a 454-cid V-8 that started at 360 bhp and ended at a barbaric 450. This was the muscle car summit. There was no weak power plant offered for this model- Base engine was a 350 horsepower 402 Cu. In. Three optional engines were the 375 horsepower 402, 360 horsepower 454, and the ultimate street beast, the vaunted 450 horsepower 454. Unfortunately, this era was short lived, and owning one of these ground pounders was complicated by two factors- Fuel shortage and pricing, and astronomical insurance premiums. These two factors drove many potential buyers away from these models. By 1970, insurance carriers even implemented policy penalties and denied coverage for a vehicle that merely carried the high performance badging. Essentially, even a 350 HP Chevelle would be penalized if it carried the SS model badging. Premiums could easily approach 2-3 times the amount for a base model vehicle. Compounding the problem, a poor driving record could result in denial of insurance altogether.

Soon, savvy gear heads and car people began searching for ways to circumvent these policies, and also to deal with the shortage of fuel that plagued our country. The solution was simple. Visit the dealer and special order your dream car using the Malibu as the platform. Check the performance options on the order sheet, including a potent small block, and build a "Baby Super Sport". This would give the customer the best of both worlds. Affordable and available insurance assigned to the Malibu, better fuel mileage with the small block engine, but still an enjoyable, potent street machine.

Any search of dealer and auction archives will reveal that very few of these Chevelles have been offered for public sale. This is a chance to own an excellent example.

The classic car hobby has been flourishing for decades. Quite honestly, the days of barn find original, documented vehicles is long past. There are only a small percentage of classics left that are undiscovered. Finding a vehicle like this 1970 Chevelle is a rare occurrence. Finding one with primarily original parts, and complete original documentation is almost impossible. This investment quality Chevelle would be a welcome addition to any enthusiast.

WORTH THE ASKING PRICE ON QUALITY ALONE. HOWEVER, THIS ONE OFFERS A BONUS. THIS CORVETTE WAS ONE OF THE FEATURE BACKGROUND CARS IN THE MOVIE "ROCK OF AGES", FEATURING SEVERAL HIGH PROFILE STARS, INCLUDING TOM CRUISE, ALEC BALDWIN, AND JULIANNE HOUGH. INCLUDED IN THIS AUCTION IS THE VETTE, CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY, AND ALL THE DISPLAY COMPONENTS YOU SEE ON THE WALL (EXCLUDING THE BIG SCREEN TV). SINCE CONCLUSION OF FILMING, THIS CAR HAS BEEN ON DISPLAY AT THE HOLLYWOOD STAR CAR MUSEUM IN GATLINBURG, TN.

THIS IS A CHANCE TO OWN A NICE C4 CORVETTE WITH A UNIQUE PROVENANCE.

THE MOVIE: "Rock of Ages" centers on two young dreamers hoping to make it in show business. A small-town girl and a big-city boy find their fates intersecting on the Sunset Strip, riding a wave of romance through the height of the "hair metal" scene as the 2006 off-Broadway musical rocks its way to the big screen courtesy of choreographer-turned-director Adam Shankman (A Walk to Remember, Hairspray). Arriving in Hollywood with stars in her eyes, Sherrie (Julianne Hough) meets Drew (Diego Boneta), and together they plunge headlong into the local rock scene. Meanwhile, as Sherrie struggles to stay afloat in a churning sea of rock 'n' roll excess, she gets swept off her feet by audacious rock star Stacee Jaxx (Tom Cruise). Russell Brand, Alec Baldwin, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Paul Giamatti, and Bryan Cranston join the star studded cast in a movie featuring music by Journey, Def Leppard, Poison, Whitesnake, Bon Jovi, Foreigner, Joan Jett, and REO Speedwagon. Originally scheduled to enter production in summer 2010 for a 2011 release, it eventually started production in 2011 and was released on June 15, 2012.

The Broadway smash, which earned five Tony Award nominations and is still entertaining audiences on the Great White Way as well as in touring productions around the world.

A great bonus to the movie was the set, which replicated 1980's Sunset Strip. As in "American Graffiti", the period correct automobiles also served as co stars of the film. There were several classic machines displayed, including Camaros, Trans Ams, GTO Judge, and Pontiac Tempest. One of the eye catchers on the street was a Black C4 Corvette. The 1987 Corvette in this ad is that car, documented with letter of authenticity.

The Chevrolet Corvette (C4) was produced from 1984 through 1996. The editors of Consumer Guide stated: "The first fully redesigned Corvette in 15 years was more sophisticated and more practical than the beloved Shark. And like previous generations, the new C4 only got better in time." The C4 Corvette was known for its evolved, sleek and modern look. In a departure from the fiberglass panels of its forebearers, theC4's rear bumpers and panels were made from molding plastics, a sheet molding compound. The C4 coupe was the first general production Corvette to have a glass hatchback for better storage access. It also had all new brakes with aluminum calipers. The Corvette C4 came standard with an electronic dashboard with a digital liquid crystal display dash, with graphics for speed and RPM and digital displays for other important engine functions. The C4 represented a clean break and a better, newer look with the previous generation of Corvette. Since emissions regulations were still changing and electronic engine management was in its infancy, horsepower was, compared to earlier generations, comparatively low. Therefore the primary design emphasis, at least for the launch, was on handling. The C4 is currently the most reasonably priced generation of Corvettes.

THE CAR: Black exterior finish. The Vette was painted black for the movie. Finish is in very good condition, has been buffed before parking in the display. Dual removable roof panels. Finned alloy wheels. Mirada Sport GTX radial tires. P255/50R16. Glass is in good condition. Twin remote control mirrors. Fit, finish, and gapping on the panels is good. Ride height is good.

Factory Graphite leather interior. Seats are in good condition, showing some wear. The driver seat has a small seam separation on the bottom cushion. Dash command center. AM/FM/Cassette. Power rack and pinion steering. Power windows. Power door locks. Remote rear hatch release. Air conditioning. Tinted glass. Theft deterrent system. Tilt telescoping steering column. Cruise control. Power driver seat. Carpet, door panels, etc. in good condition. Leather wrapped steering wheel and shift knob. Dash and console in good shape.

5.7 liter, Tuned Port Injection, eight cylinder engine, 240 horsepower, 9.5:1 compression. This engine was nicknamed the torque monster, producing 345 ft/lbs of torque. This is the first year that Chevrolet installed a hydraulic roller cam in the engine, which not only boosted the horsepower slightly, but improved fuel economy. 700R4 automatic transmission with overdrive. 2.59:1 rear gear ratio. Four wheel, Anti-Lock disc brakes .Front suspension, single fiberglass composite monoleaf transverse spring with unequal-length aluminum control arms and stabilizer bar. Rear suspension, fully independent five-link system with transverse fiberglass single-leaf springs, aluminum upper/lower trailing links and strut-rod tie-rod assembly.

This is an opportunity to own a solid, nice driving, good looking C4 with a documented movie history as an interesting conversation point. Don't let this one pass by.

1967 A-FORD MUSTANG SHELBY GT500
Click Photo (More Info.)
TO CLARIFY, THIS IS NOT A CLONE, REPRODUCTION, TRIBUTE CAR, OR KIT CAR. THIS IS 1967 SHELBY GT500 #231. THIS IS NOT A MYSTERIOUS RECENT BARN FIND THAT APPEARED OUT OF THIN AIR. THIS IS A WELL KNOWN VEHICLE, COMPLETE WITH DOCUMENTATION, OWNER HISTORY, AND RACE HISTORY. DOCUMENTED IN THE 1967 SHELBY REGISTRY, ADMINISTERED BY DAVE MATTHEWS, 1967 SHELBY REGISTRAR, SHELBY AMERICAN AUTO CLUB(SAAC). APPEARED IN MAGAZINES AND ALSO THE 2004 COVER CAR FOR BRANDA MUSTANG PARTS. DEALER INSTALLED 427 SIDE OILER. FOUR SPEED. STILL IN THE RACE TRIM FROM THE LATE SIXTIES. THOROUGHBRED INVESTMENT QUALITY EXAMPLE OF AMERICAN MUSCLE CAR HISTORY. RARE OPPORTUNITY TO OWN A BONA FIDE REPRESENTATION OF CARROLL SHELBY'S LEGACY.

No auto enthusiast, especially Shelby Mustang collectors, require a history lesson in Carroll Shelby and his creations, so none will be given. However, there are some noteworthy facts concerning the year 1967 and the 1967 models that may be of interest to some readers. 1967 was the year the GT500 was launched, and it was certainly a departure from Shelby's usual design. Up to this point, his facility was mainly producing very aggressive, road racing style vehicles that were not suited to mundane, every day driving. The 1967 GT500 was a functional blend of road racing and muscle car components, and it succeeded in satisfying the demands of the purchasing public. 1967 models can also be considered the last of the "hand built by Shelby" automobiles. In August of 1967, Shelby lost his lease on the facility at Los Angeles International Airport. Beginning in December of 1967, the Ford Plant in Metuchen, New Jersey began shipping the 1968 models to A.O. Smith in Ionia, MI. for conversion under Ford control. Shelby moved his operation to Torrance, CA., but Shelby American had substantially less involvement after this time.

As per Elite Marti Report, early production number of 231 of 2,048 GT500 Mustangs manufactured in 1967. Further breakdown of the report reveals; One of 1,376 manufactured with four speed transmission. Of these, one of 246 in Wimbleton White. 229 of them featured Black Decor Bucket Seats. Of this number, 165 were Basic Order (No A/C or thermotractor). Documented in the 1967 Shelby Registry with a K designation. Registry has not been updated with vehicle history.

Believed to be featured as a cover car for Shelby American Magazine. A copy of the photo is with the car. In this photo, number 231 is featured on the assembly line at the Shelby Los Angeles production facility. The correct white rectangle with the hand written number 231 is affixed to the center base of the windshield. Photo is displayed below. In addition, Tony Branda displayed number 231 on the cover of his 2004 "Tony Branda Shelby and Mustang Parts" catalog.

An interesting and unusual history is associated with Shelby Mustang number 231. The vehicle was manufactured in January of 1967 and shipped to Eger Motors Inc. in McKeesport, PA. Delivered in March of 1967. In lieu of offering this beauty for sale to the public, the car was transformed into a dealer sponsored drag car. The Shelby was campaigned for several years at the drag races. The first private owner did not take possession until September of 1971. At that time, there were less than 400 miles on the odometer.

The 428 Cu. In. Police Interceptor engine was removed. A modified 427 Cu. In. side oiler engine was installed. Backed by the heavy duty top loader four speed, this ground pounder raced at mostly local Pittsburgh area tracks. The Mustang was eventually retired, and as stated, sold in 1971 to a private party. The car was left in the same trim as modified by Eger. To this day, the 427 engine and transmission are still installed in the engine bay. This car is still basically in the same configuration as 1971. This is not an example of a MCA or SAAC concourse restoration. Rather it maintains many of the original components, many of the components installed by 1971, with some mechanical maintenance and cosmetic upgrades.

Original VIN number is 7R02Q146877. Shelby VIN is 67400F4A00231. Factory options include Power Steering, Power Disc Brakes, Shoulder Harnesses, Magnum Wheels, AM Radio, Fold Down Rear Seat, Extra Cooling Package, Courtesy Light Group, and Interior Decor Group.

Exterior finish is factory code M-Wimbleton White. Fiberglass Shelby scooped hood. Fiberglass trunk lid and spoiler. Fiberglass front extensions. Shelby GT500 striping and emblems. Four side scoops. Driving lights mounted in center grille. Single sport mirror with remote. Magnum fifteen inch wheels with Firestone Wide Ovals, F60x15. All glass is in very good condition. Chrome and stainless in good condition also. Fit, finish, and gapping is very good.

Interior is black decor bucket seat. Basically, the complete interior is original. Front buckets are in decent shape. There is a seam split on the lower cushion of each bucket seat. Rear seat is in very good condition. Door panels, headliner, dash, and carpet in good condition. Woodgrain steering wheel. Hurst shifter. 140 MPH speedometer. Rally Pac with 8,000 RPM tach mounted in correct location under the dash. Factory AM radio. Roll bar. Shoulder harnesses.

In the engine bay is the 427 Cu. In. side oiler engine installed by Eger Motors. Dual four barrel carburetors mounted on an aluminum intake manifold. LeMans rods and crank. Cross bolted main bearings. Medium riser heads. Headers flow into dual exhaust with equalizer pipe, and Flowmaster mufflers. Top loader four speed transmission. Nine inch rear differential.

Undercarriage is not highly detailed. At some point it was painted black. However, it is clean and solid. Jack and spare are mounted in the trunk. Spare is Goodyear Polyglas. Trunk is finished in black, not factory paint. It is unknown whether this was done at Shelby or at Eger Motors. This is the only one we've seen painted black.

Documented 1967 GT500 Mustangs don't become available for sale very often. This is an opportunity for the Shelby enthusiast to own an example of automotive history.

THIS CAR BELONGS AT A HIGH LEVEL CLASSIC CAR AUCTION, BUT WE ARE OFFERING IT FOR SALE TO THE PUBLIC. PLEASE READ THE COMPLETE AD AND VIEW ALL THE PHOTOS ON THIS BEAUTIFUL FORD.

The Thunderbird ranks second only to the Mustang as Ford's most iconic nameplate in history. The buying public has seen eleven model generations, from 1955 to 1997, and again from 2002 to 2005. From the introduction in 1955 until the recent departure in 2005, Ford produced over 4.4 million units. Ford actually created the new niche with the manufacture of the T Bird. It was never known as a sports car, but rather a personal luxury car.

The early Thunderbirds are some of the most collectible examples in the classic car hobby. Style, power, and comfort put the vehicle in a class of its' own. The introductory T-Bird had style in spades, owing to its low, two-seat bodywork. Thunderbird's height from the cowl to the ground was just slightly more than three feet. It had a 102-inch wheelbase -- more than a foot shorter than a 1955 Ford sedan -- yet borrowed heavily from the many new styling touches adopted for the year's full-size Fords. Though it was inspired by the many -- mostly foreign-built -- sports cars that were capturing the imagination of American enthusiasts in the early 1950s, the Thunderbird was built like a little luxury car. Its family car-like suspension delivered a softer ride than "pure" sports cars. The T Bird evolved from a two seat to a four seat configuration in 1958. As time passed, ten model generations were developed. However, by the eighth generation, the original concept was lost, and sales began to suffer.

In response to the lackluster reception of the eighth-generation 1980–1982 Thunderbird, Ford executed a significant ninth generation redesign for 1983. Sales rebounded, and on December 26, 1988, a completely redesigned tenth generation Thunderbird was introduced as a 1989 model alongside its sister car, the Mercury Cougar. The tenth generation had the longest run of the series, from 1989 to 1997. This model, however, had run its' course by then. By 1996 Ford began to reduce its investment in the tenth generation Thunderbird. While the Thunderbird received minor changes for 1996, the Super Coupe model was discontinued the previous year and the options list for the remaining models was condensed. In 1997, Ford decided to discontinue the tenth generation Thunderbird with the last example of the car rolling off the assembly line in Lorain, Ohio on September 4 of that year.

Fast forward to 2002. At this time, the retro style was at the peak of popularity. New models like the Volkswagen New Beetle, Chrysler PT Cruiser and Prowler, and the Mini Cooper prompted Ford to reintroduce the Thunderbird eleventh generation. After being on hiatus for several years, Ford introduced a new Thunderbird for 2002. Returning to the original formula for the Thunderbird, the latest version had a two-seat coupe/convertible layout like the first-generation Thunderbird and retro styling to match. The 2002 model garnered Motor Trend Car of the Year and North American Car of the Year honors. The last generation was short lived. Ford decided to make the 2005 model year the Thunderbird's last with no scheduled successor. The last one rolled off the assembly line on July 1, 2005.

This short production run and unique styling has created a loyal following in the collector car hobby. There is now a group of collectors that covet the last generation models almost as much as the first. In primary demand are the extremely low mileage units with the "in the wrapper" appearance. The Thunderbird we are offering for sale is a prime example. Still appearing as it did the day it left the showroom floor. With 9.5 original miles on the odometer, this is one of the lowest mile, if not THE lowest mile offering on the planet. This is the chance to own one of the finest examples of a 2002 Thunderbird available anywhere.

The stunning Thunderbird Blue paint looks as fresh as the day this beauty arrived home. Mirror gloss and unblemished. Removable porthole top and power retractable convertible top. Seven spoke 17 inch chrome wheels. P235/50VR17 radial tires.
