ONE OF THE RAREST CARS ON THE PLANET. 1972 CHRYSLER- AUSTRALIA CHARGER 770! THIS ULTRA RARE, RIGHT HAND DRIVE MUSCLE CAR IS A MUST HAVE FOR THE DISCRIMINATING MOPAR COLLECTOR.
In 1971, a new star was introduced to the Australian motoring scene- the VH Valiant Charger Fastback. By 1970 the Chrysler Valiant line was know as stodgy, dependable passenger sedans. This all went out the window with the introduction of the Charger. The Charger won the Wheels Magazine "Car of the Year" Award in 1971.
Australian Motoring News described the Charger as "...the most handsome car Chrysler has ever produced, and probably the best looking car ever produced by an Australian manufacturer". Production ended in 1978, when Mitsubishi took over the Chrysler Australian Operation. From 1971 to 1978 only 31,857 Chargers (all models) were produced. They were sold in Australia and also exported to England, South Africa, New Zealand, Southeast Asia, and throughout the Pacific. It is unknown how many of this miniscule production run were ever exported into the U.S., but only a few VH Charger 770's are estimated to be in this country. None are ever listed for sale. The Charger remains today as the fastest production vehicle made in Australia. In addition, The Charger has an unparalleled racing history in New Zealand. A Charger R/T recently sold at auction in Australia for $130,000. It has been predicted by several Mopar experts that the Australian Charger may become one of the hottest collectibles in Mopar history. This 770 is the Deluxe model in the product line, and also the only model with V8 engines.
This Rare Classic spent it's whole life in the temperate climate of Sydney Australia. It was imported to sunny California in 2005. Vehicle holds clear California title.
Straight, all steel body finished in mirror gloss, factory Mercury Silver. This Charger has absolutely no body or underbody rust. No dents or door dings. Glass is in great shape. Correct Alloy Mag Wheels. Flip open fuel cap. A shorter wheelbase and more compact styling than it's American counterpart gives a more aggressive look to the 770. Chrome, stainless, and brightwork in great condition. Australian made Dunlop A/S tires.
Complete interior was replaced with OEM factory Saddle vinyl. New seat covers, door panels, headliner, carpet, etc. Dash in excellent condition. Console and automatic floor shift. Woodgrain dash. 770 gauge package. Correct Chrysler rubber floor mats. Upgraded AM/FM/CD.
